Practical design resources
I’ve relied on these practical resources many times in my career.
- Erik D. Kennedy’s blog is the best collection of practical articles about visual design on the internet.
- The HeyDesigner newsletter has helped me to keep up to date with the design community.
- I haven’t found a better collection of visual design inspiration than Lapa.
- If I need to look at screenshots of apps that are not easy to access, I use Mobbin. This is a paid service.
- When I wanted to read a book about a specific topic I turned to Chris Oliver’s excellent The Monster List of UX Books
- If I want to know the best way to approach an interaction design problem, I first check NN/g.
- If I’m not sure what icon will best represent a concept, I type the concept into The Noun Project.
- If I need to figure out what colour to use for a concept I type the concept into Picular.
