Replace characters in text with imagery.
In the example below I've used emoji to replace punctuation, but you can use any imagery and replace any text characters. This technique adds personality to text, and can help you represent a brand or theme.
The imagery should be recognisable as the character it replaces, to avoid confusion. If the imagery is not the right shape, it’ll also interfere with the flow of the text, as you can see with the apostrophe replacement below and how far away the “they” and “re” need to be as a result.
