Software should be fast, and responsive. That is, actions should be completed quickly, and the software should react to input immediately.
There should be zero-to-no latency for input methods. A mouse pointer should glide smoothly across the screen, for example.
The software should run well regardless of the software or hardware platforms a person uses it on.
